An onboard switch allows selection between cardioid, figure-8, and omnidirectional polar patterns, and the high max SPL of 118 dB allows you to use the Bock 251 on sound sources that vintage 251s would balk at. Switched Polar Patterns

Onboard pickup pattern switching allows you to select between cardioid, figure-8/bidirectional, and omnidirectional. This provides a great amount of flexibility for applying the wonderfully warm tube tone of the 251 on many different sound sources, from vocal duets and solo performers, to orchestras and room mic duties.
