The Triad-Orbit Starbird SB-1 Studio Boom Stand is the third iteration of George Starbird's legendary Model No.180 studio boom stand, which was designed for use in large broadcast environments in the 1940s and later adopted as the large mic stand of choice by recording studios. This updated version combines the unrivaled reach, range of motion, and stability of the original with Triad-Orbit's proprietary technology to impart new levels of performance, versatility, and stability.

T.A.F. System

• T.A.F. (Triad Air Force) is a patent-pending pneumatic auto-lift / assisted-lift system that automatically and effortlessly raises T-O Starbird stands and booms
• Ideal for applications with heavy microphone set ups
• By releasing the mid clutch on the riser tubes the stand raises automatically with air-lift assist

StarBase Retractable Stand Base

• Massive cast iron base with 38" footprint and three retractable legs that pivot for optimum positioning
• Legs tuck away under the base for efficient storage
• The legs can be used in offset positions to accommodate smaller rooms and tight spaces

BoomStop Safety Lock

• Pin locking mechanism secures Starbird boom in any position, regardless of the weight suspended, for safe, worry-free operation

VariBal Counter Ballast System

• VariBal lets you adjust the position of the counterweight effortlessly
• Allows you to add additional ballast to the counterweight as needed
