16-Track Algorithmic Desktop Sequencer - White

Bringing a modern twist to hardware pattern sequencing, the Torso Electronics T-1 is a desktop, 16-track algorithmic sequencer with a focus on generative- and evolving-pattern creation. It combines a Euclidian rhythm generator with an arpeggiator to allow you to dial in any rhythm and melody in a manner of seconds. You can also add a bit of random modulation or change in the probability of a step being played to surprise your audience or yourself. The T-1 is not in itself an instrument. Instead, it relies on its connected devices to generate any audio or sound. Multiple connectivity options make the T-1 an ideal device to use centrally in a rig or as part of a wider setup. Integration with desktop, modular, mobile, or software DAW systems is possible through a variety of connectivity options. Analog CV and Gate I/Os, Wi-Fi Link, and MIDI over USB or direct are all available onboard.

Forgoing layers of menu diving through multiple screen pages in favor of hands-on touch and feel, the user interface is intuitive and immediate with 23 RGB backlit silicone keypads and 18 endless rotary encoders. Sculpt the timing, tonality, and overall structure of your music in the same intuitive way you would a parameter on a synthesizer: by just twisting a knob. The T-1 is powered via USB-C.

Three Modes to Customize Your T-1

Each of the T-1’s 16 tracks can be set up in one of three modes.

• Note mode: compose rhythms and melodies from scratch with the Euclidean rhythm generator, advanced note repeater, and arpeggiator, and tweak them to your desire with detailed step editing.
• CC mode: take absolute control over sound design with 16 CC knobs and add automation via random modulation and step editing.
• FX mode: create real-time MIDI FX to expand and transform your musical ideas. Connect a MIDI keyboard for hands-on live performance.

Euclidean Rhythms

T-1's Euclidean rhythms feature embedded velocity, grooves, and swing make it a powerful tool for generating a wide range of evolving and dynamic patterns.

Arpeggiator

Add repeats on top of Euclidean pulses and apply different voicing styles to build repeating and arpeggiating patterns.

Randomize Everything

Randomization can be added to every parameter, on each track, making it possible to add slight variations or total random chaos.

Musical Scales

T-1 offers 7 musical scales + one user scale per track. Lock notes into musical scales and create melodies by modulating the pitch with different melody phrases and looping, random sequences.

Ableton Link

Ableton Link enables wireless synchronization and transport control between your T-1 and multiple, separate audio devices across a Wi-Fi network.

Tangible Visuals

What you see is what you get: at every touch of a knob or push of a button, 16 RGB keypads show you the state of the instrument, while offering up a quick way to jump to a new setting in real time.

Connect to Everything

T-1 has the ability to connect to analog gear with a variety of configuration options that ensure most applications can be covered. It uses 3.5mm mini jack inputs and outputs for gates, control voltages, synchronization of clock, and reset. An individual control voltage input is also available to access several T-1 internal functions.
