CREATIVE PIANO TEACHING - 4TH EDITION

JAMES LYKE, GEOFFREY HAYDON, AND CATHERINE ROLLIN
2011

We are delighted to announce a new and expanded 4th edition of Creative Piano Teaching by James Lyke, Geoffrey Haydon, and Catherine Rollin. The previous edition of this book won James Lyke the Frances Clark Keyboard Pedagogy Award at the 2004 Music Teachers National Association convention. Its national reputation and the outstanding new contributions by well known teachers and scholars will make this edition a classic in the field.

The latest 4th edtion welcomes new co-author Catherine Rollin, award winning composer and independent teacher. Many new contributing authors address topics such as establishing a teaching practice, composing, technology, entrepreneurship, fingering, practicing, developing technique, pedaling, memorization, and performance. A special focus is devoted to research affecting the brain and performance anxiety.

Suitable teaching literature for the young and advancing pianist is suggested and analyzed. Important piano teacher organizations and historical insights round out the many chapters which are intended to generate thought and discussion. Creative Piano Teaching is intended for piano pedagogy students and the independent piano teacher.
